My Story

My name is Alissa Jane Dyer, but I am often called Lizzy. I am an artist that lives near Levin in the North Island of New Zealand.

I was lucky enough to grow up in rural north Taranaki and was exposed to the amazing rugged coast and wildlife from a young age. This led me to study zoology and ecology at university and learn to scuba dive on the side. I have had the opportunities to work in some amazing places, and coming home with the best weirdest work stories involving octopus, stingrays, sharks etc. Since 2011 I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing these experiences and a hopefully igniting a passion for science by teaching secondary school science and biology. During this time I have continuously needed a creative outlet to keep myself sane and help me to relax.

2024 is the beginning of a new chapter for me, as I have decided to pursue a new pathway and have left the teaching profession to follow the path that has always called to me in the background of all my other experiences. I look forward to sharing my journey with you as I progress.
